Communications & Social Media Professional
A bit about me.
With nearly 7 years of experience in news and communications, I'm excited to join a team looking to better engage with their target community.
Most recently, I was the Internal Communications Manager at American University. During my time, I focused on promoting university news, events and programming to the AU community, with more than 22,000 active members. I developed and executed communications plans to promote the institution’s campus experience and campus-wide initiatives. My work also focused on managing more than 100 media requests per academic year, typically from student reporters seeking information about campus resources and university strategies.
Prior to my role at American University, I was the Communications Specialist at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. My role included drafting press releases, writing web content and creating videos. I oversaw the university's social media channels on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. In a unique opportunity, I also produced a monthly podcast with the university president, building more familiarity and sharing campus-wide news.
I began my career as a multimedia journalist for WDVM News and built a foundation for writing, videography and editing.
Positive
I believe in bringing a positive and enthusiastic approach to my work every day. While priorities may change at any moment or a crisis may arise, I'm flexible and can remain calm and focused.
Creative
My foundation as a reporter allowed me to seek and better understand how visuals can excite and attract an audience. I follow trends and advocate for new ways of reaching a community where they are.
Committed
I enjoy being part of a team and take my responsibilities seriously so we can succeed as a collective. Feedback is essential to continuous learning and I'm open to improving my work.
